Auto Drive

Autopilot employs cameras, radar, and ultrasound to identify lane lines, road signs, barriers, pedestrians, cyclists, traffic signals, and other vehicles. Beyond that, Autopilot offers adaptive cruise control and lane maintenance features, while also providing semi-autonomous driving and parking functions.

Instrument Panel

The driver sees the instrument panel directly ahead of them. This panel features a 12.3-inch (310 mm) electronic LCD display that shows the car’s speed, battery charge, estimated driving range, and the gear in use, along with navigation instructions. Initially, the Model S’s touchscreen relied on an Nvidia Tegra 3 3D Visual Computing Module (VCM), whereas a distinct Nvidia Tegra 2 VCM operated the instrument cluster. The Tegra chip system comprised eight dedicated processors, which included a multi-core ARM CPU, a GPU, and processors exclusively for audio, video, and imagery.
